WABASH COUNTY — After a series of recent actions by the Wabash County Board of Commissioners and the Wabash County Council, a new Wabash County Jail and Sheriff’s Office is finally taking shape. At Monday’s Wabash County Board of Commissioners meeting, the board unanimously approved an ordinance and resolution establishing a fund to receive bond note proceeds and lease financing, respectively.

ACLU Files Lawsuit Against Wabash County Jail
The American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana (ACLU) has filed a new lawsuit against an Indiana county jail. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of individuals incarcerated at Wabash County Jail and claims the jail is overcrowded, understaffed and unsanitary. ACLU of Indiana attorney Stevie Pactor says that violates the constitution.

WABASH — A lawsuit filed earlier this year regarding overcrowding in the Wabash County Jail continues after the court asked for additional evidence. The lawsuit was filed in February in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana by the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana on behalf of Wabash County Jail inmates Jerry Copeland, John Whitt and James Dutton against Wabash County and Sheriff Ryan Baker.
